Tonight is our third midweek Lenten service (6:30 p.m.) and supper (5:00 – 6:00 p.m.). The theme for worship will focus on Jesus’ words, “My God, why have you forsaken me?” How does abandonment feel? Why is it part of our lives? How does our Heavenly Father help us endure it? Please join us tonight for good food, caring fellowship, and faith-building.

From this week’s webcast: 8 members of TLC participated in the webcast from the Alban Institute in Washington, DC, about strategies for moving a local congregation into effective ministry in its community. Among the main points were these:
1. Make a determined effort to get to now people in the community at a deeper (less superficial) level. People want people (they trust) to care for them.
2. Ask for and graciously receive honest feedback when you ask friends and neighbors, “What, if anything, do you know about our church?” Test your perceptions against what others in the community tell you about your church.
3. Attend community meetings to learn more about the important issues the community is facing. If nothing else, go and listen and learn so that your church can speak to real issues.
4. Follow-up to outreach events is essential. A card. A phone call. A visit. Something.
5. 90% of first time worships first visit your church’s web site before walking into your sanctuary. Have an attractive, informative, easy to navigate web site and keep it current! (If there are ways we can improve TLC’s web site, tell us! Give us your ideas. We want to make our site the best we can.)
